How long does it take to canoe from Fort William to Inverness?
We began our journey on the west coast at Fort William and headed north eastwards towards Inverness and the North Sea. The route normally takes hard canoes between 3 and 5 days to complete, depending on fitness and weather conditions. We were fortunate with the weather and were able to complete the journey in 4 days. It was a great experience paddling through the stunning Scottish Highlands and we would recommend it to anyone looking for an adventure.

The cost for a week is £1050, a month is £1990, or a year is £4420. This is for the craft, not the person. Remember that this is for one River which is also covered by British Canoeing.
What do you wear kayaking in Scotland
There are a few different options for what to wear while hiking in the rain. For lightweight and quick-drying trousers, we recommend shorts or dry trousers. If you want to stay extra dry and warm, we recommend bibbed dry trousers. For a swimming costume or trunks, we recommend quick-drying and comfortable swimwear.
Kayaking is a great way to get out and enjoy nature, and you don’t need any previous experience to do it! Most people can pick up the basics of kayaking within a few hours, as long as they have a reasonable swimming ability and fitness level. so get out there and give it a try!
What is the fine for not having a waterways licence?
If you’re caught on an inland waterway and you don’t have a waterways licence, you can be fined up to £1,000.
Assuming you have a canoe that can fit two people and enough supplies for a day, you could canoe 20 miles in a day. This would take into account our example speed and mileage of 35 hours to paddle 10 miles. That would account for 7 hours of straight paddling plus a few breaks in between, about an entire day.
