Where do you stay when you visit Crater Lake?
If you’re looking for lodging options at Crater Lake National Park, you’ve got two choices: Crater Lake Lodge and The Cabins at Mazama Village. Both are managed by the concessions operator, Crater Lake Hospitality (CLH).
Crater Lake Lodge is the only lodging option inside the park boundaries, and it’s open from early June through mid-October. The lodge features 71 guest rooms, a dining room, and a gift shop.
The Cabins at Mazama Village are located just outside the park boundaries, and they’re open year-round. The cabins feature a variety of accommodations, from standard rooms to three-bedroom units, and there’s also a general store on-site.
Prospect is a small town located in Oregon, about 30 miles from Crater Lake. The town is home to a historical hotel, which was built in the late 19th century. The hotel has been featured in a number of local and national publications, and is a popular tourist destination.
What city is near Crater Lake National Park
There are a limited number of hotels and lodges near Crater Lake National Park, so many visitors choose to stay in the nearby city of Bend. The historic Crater Lake Lodge is the only Oregon hotel located within the national park, and it fills up quickly. There are also several motels and hotels in Bend that offer a variety of accommodations for visitors.
The views from and around the lodge are breathtaking and worth the visit alone. There are trails on both sides of the lodge, making it easy to explore the lake and see it from different perspectives. We paid extra for a lakeview room and felt like it was 100% worth the cost. The staff was also very friendly and helpful, and the room was clean and comfortable. Overall, we had a great experience and would definitely recommend this lodge to others.
What is the best month to visit Crater Lake?
The most popular months to visit Crater Lake are July, August, and September. That’s when the park’s roads, trails, and facilities are usually fully open. May and June are months of transition in the park, as winter slowly gives way to summer.
Crater Lake is one of the most beautiful places on earth, and it’s definitely worth spending a day (and night) there. Getting to the lake can be a bit of a hassle, but once you’re there, you won’t want to leave! There’s so much to see and do, and the views are absolutely stunning. Is Crater Lake Worth Visiting?
If you’re looking for an unforgettable experience, Crater Lake National Park is a must-see. The deepest lake in the United States, Crater Lake is simply stunning. And there’s no shortage of things to do in the park, from hiking to enjoying the panoramic views from the summit.
The Lake Circumference Tour is a scenic drive around the entire circumference of Lake Tahoe. The tour is approximately 72 miles long and takes a minimum of two hours to complete, not including any stops for sightseeing or taking pictures. The tour can be done by car or motorcycle, but larger vehicles and vehicles with trailers may need more time.
Can you drive to see Crater Lake
Crater Lake is designed to be visited by car. Not counting the time that you’ll spend at the various viewpoints, the lake can be circumnavigated in an hour along the 33-mile Rim Drive, the highest paved road in Oregon. The full loop usually is open from late June to mid-October, depending on snowmelt.
If you’re planning on driving from Portland to Crater Lake, it’s about a 4 hour 30 minute drive. I would recommend splitting it up over a weekend or a few days so you can enjoy the journey and not feel rushed. Make sure to factor in time for breaks, as it will definitely take longer than half a day if you include them. Happy travels!

It is not far from Little Crater Lake, a cold, crystal clear, spring-fed pond. Also nearby is Timothy Lake, where boaters and anglers enjoy recreating, all in the shadows of Mt.
What is the best way to visit Crater Lake
The Crater Lake rim drive should definitely be on your list of things to do when exploring Oregon. The 33-mile loop is absolutely stunning and provides plenty of opportunities to take some amazing photos. I would recommend budgeting at least a few hours to enjoy the drive, as there are so many incredible things to see.
Crater Lake National Park is home to the deepest lake in the United States and is definitely worth a visit! The scenic drive around the lake can be completed in just half a day, leaving plenty of time to explore the park and take a few short hikes.
How much does it cost to go to the crater?
The Crater Lake National Park Per Vehicle Park Specific Annual Pass will be increasing in price from $15 to $40 on May 13, 2018 and then again from $25 to $50 on January 1, 2020.
At Crater Lake, the temperatures can get cool even in the summertime. Make sure to bring long pants and a jacket to wear in the evening.
