Crater Lake is a stunning natural wonder in southern Oregon. It is the deepest lake in the United States and is famous for its intense blue color. If you’re hoping to stay in one of the in-park accommodations at Crater Lake National Park, you’ll want to plan ahead! The Lodge, Cabins, and Campground are often fully booked months in advance, so it’s best to reserve your spot as soon as possible.<\/p>\n

Prospect is a small town located in Oregon, about 30 miles from Crater Lake. It is home to a historic hotel, the Prospect Hotel, which was built in the early 1900s. The town is also home to a small museum and a few other businesses.<\/p>\n

The views from and around the lodge are breathtaking and worth the visit alone. There are trails on both sides of the lodge, making it easy to explore the lake and see it from different perspectives. We paid extra for a lakeview room and felt like it was 100% worth the cost.<\/p>\n

Crater Lake is one of the most beautiful places on Earth. It is a must-see for anyone who loves nature. Ideally, you should spend at least one full day and one night at Crater Lake. Getting here can be a bit of a hassle (far away and long lines to get in the actual park), so once you actually do make it, you don’t want to worry about getting back in your car and heading back if you can help it. Once you’re at Crater Lake, take your time to explore. Hike around the rim, take a boat tour, and just soak in the beauty. At night, the stars are incredible. You’ll want to spend as much time as possible here to really take it all in.<\/p>\n

When should you not go to Crater Lake? <\/h2>\n

If you’re looking to hike in the park, it’s best to wait until later in the summer when the snow has melted and the trails are more clear. In the meantime, you can enjoy the scenic views from the comfort of the visitor center.<\/p>\n

Crater Lake is a beautiful national park that is definitely worth the effort to get to. The best ways to access it from Seattle are either down I-5 through Eugene or along Oregon State Hwy 97 past Bend, Oregon. Whichever route you choose, you’re sure to be amazed by the views of the lake!<\/p>\n

Can you do a day trip to Crater Lake from Portland? <\/h2>\n

If you’re planning on making the road trip from Portland to Crater Lake, you should plan on spending at least a half day driving. The trip is 250 miles and will take you about 4 hours and 30 minutes, but that doesn’t include any stops. factor in breaks, and the trip will definitely take longer. You could easily drive this in one day, but it’s best to split it up over a weekend or a few days. That way, you can enjoy the drive and see everything the area has to offer.<\/p>\n

Please allow a minimum of two hours to circumnavigate the lake by car or motorcycle. If you are driving a larger vehicle or towing, please allow additional time. Enjoy your journey and be sure to take in the sights along the way!<\/p>\n

Is Crater Lake a day trip <\/h3>\n

There is much more to Crater Lake National Park than just the lake, but the lake is definitely the highlight. You can easily complete the scenic drive around the lake in as little as half a day, so even just one day at Crater Lake provides time for a couple of short hikes and a fairly complete visit.<\/p>\n

The Crater Lake rim drive is considered one of the most scenic byways in America. The 33-mile loop only takes about one hour, but you’ll want to budget at least a few hours to enjoy all the incredible photo ops. The best way to explore is by hopping in the car and doing the loop. You’ll be able to take in all the sights and sounds of Crater Lake, and get some great pictures while you’re at it!
