You could easily drive this in half a day, but it’s best to split the road trip up over a weekend or a few days. This way, you can enjoy the journey and not feel rushed. The Little Crater Lake Campground is a beautiful spot in the Mt. Hood National Forest and makes for a great camping spot. Although Phantom Ship is the only island in the lake, it is not accessible to visitors. The best way to experience Phantom Ship is from the Sun Notch Viewpoint.<\/p>\n

We really enjoyed our stay at the lodge and would recommend it to anyone! The views from and around the lodge are breathtaking and definitely worth the visit alone. There are trails on both sides of the lodge, making it easy to explore the lake and see it from different perspectives. We paid extra for a lakeview room and felt like it was 100% worth the cost.
