The Crater Lake Trail is a hiking trail located in the San Jacinto Mountains, in Riverside County, California. The trail is approximately 3.6 miles long and climbs to an elevation of 9,895 feet. The trailhead is located at the Idyllwild Ranger Station.<\/p>\n

From the south shore of Crater Lake, the trailhead for the Crater Lake Trail can be found at the end of the promontory. The trail is a 1.1-mile out-and-back trail that winds through the forest and offers stunning views of the lake.<\/p>\n

The Cleetwood Cove Trail is the only way to reach the bottom of Crater Lake and access boat tours. The trail is a moderate to strenuous hike that is open from June to October. The trailhead is located at Cleetwood Cove on the north side of the lake.<\/p>\n

If you want to enjoy the beauty of Crater Lake National Park, the best place to do it is from the Cleetwood Cove Trail. This is the only place where it is safe and legal to get down to the lake shore. The trail usually opens late June, so plan your visit accordingly.<\/p>\n
