Loch Ness is most famous for its purported monster, which is said to inhabit the murky depths. The Loch itself is enormous, stretching over 23 miles in length with a maximum depth of 755 feet. While there are no official tours of Loch Ness, there are plenty of nearby opportunities to catch a glimpse of the famous body of water. Many visitors choose to take a day trip from the nearby city of Inverness, which has plenty of Loch Ness-themed souvenirs and activities. If you want to visit the Urquhart Castle ruins, you’ll have to go through the Visitor Centre first. Admission to the Visitor Centre includes the fee for the castle ruins. The Visitor Centre has a cafe and gift shop, which take up a large area of the Centre.<\/p>\n

The Clansman Centre is a great place to learn about 17th century Highland life. You can also enjoy scenic canal walks, watch the boats go through the locks, pick up some souvenirs in the gift shops and explore the Caledonian Canal Centre.
