Lake Michigan is the third largest of the Great Lakes and is the only one located entirely within the United States. It is approximately 300 miles long and 150 miles wide with a shoreline of 1,640 miles. The average depth of the lake is 279 feet and the deepest point is 925 feet. Lake Michigan is approximately 577 feet above sea level.<\/p>\n
