In 1989, scientists completed 24 trips to the bottom of Crater Lake using a mini-submarine. The trips were part of a study to learn more about the geology of the lake. The scientists were able to map the bottom of the lake and collect samples of the rocks and sediment.<\/p>\n

Yes, you can swim in Crater Lake National Park, but there is only one place where it is safe and legal to do so. The Cleetwood Cove Trail typically opens in mid to late June and provides access to the lake shore. Please be sure to follow all posted signs and regulations while visiting the park.<\/p>\n
