The famous Crater Lake is located in a caldera, or basin, created by the collapse of a stratovolcano. The caldera is filled with water from rain and snowfall, which is why the lake is so blue and crystal clear. In the summer, visitors can take boat tours and even hike to the bottom of the crater. However, the lake is not immune to natural disasters. In recent years, Crater Lake has been affected by several large forest fires. The most recent and destructive fire was the 2002 B&B Complex Fire, which burned over 48,000 acres of land. The fire started near the town of Beatty, Oregon and quickly spread to the east, finally reaching Crater Lake National Park. The B&B Complex Fire is just one example of how fires can affect Crater Lake.<\/p>\n

Yes, Crater Lake is affected by fires. The lake is surrounded by forests and when these forests catch fire, the smoke and ash can affect the lake.<\/p>\n
